About Mike

Let's start with Mike. Mike has certainly had an eventful life. Mike always dreamed of being an artist as a child, but instead of painting and drawing, Mike carved out a career as a salesman after failing his Art O'Level, not just once but twice. Mike gained an assortment of sales jobs including selling photocopiers, fax machines and even cornflakes. Unfortunately, Mike lost as many jobs as he started so decided to turn to teaching where he travelled the world. Sadly, Mike's luck in his personal life did not work out much better, after not just one, but two failed marriages behind him. Sadly, Mike's run of back luck continued after he contracted cancer, although thankfully he's now had the all clear. I think it's fair to say that life has been pretty tough for Mike, until that is, he met rescue dog Scrabble.

About Scrabble

Scrabble is a Jack Russell/Dachshund cross and was born on a puppy farm in Ireland before being taken into Battersea Dogs Home then ending up in The Allsorts Rescue Centre in Sussex. It was at The Allsorts Rescue Centre where Scrabble met Mike and I guess it was love at first sight for both of them. What Mike didn't realise was Scrabble was on a mission to make Mike a better human being and she certainly achieved that. With Scrabble at Mike's side, Mike resumed his love of art again and started drawing pictures of Scrabble and their home town of Brighton. His work attracted lots of interest from people willing to pay for Mike's art work and of course Scrabble became an internet sensation.

With Scrabble by Mike's side, Mike then turned his attention to creating a book of pictures featuring him and Scrabble with often hilarious observations from Scrabble.

Actually many of Scrabble's thoughts make perfect sense. For example, did you know the reason Scrabble sheds hair is  to ensure Mike cleans the house regularly? In fact, Scrabble is a very smart cookie and Mike really should be grateful he found her.

This is a book of few words, and the pictures really do tell the story of this remarkable couple. It's also become a firm favourite with my young daughter who can't wait to own her first dog.

We hope you enjoy the book as much as we did, and we certainly look forward to the next book from Scrabble, with a little help from Mike of course!
